Speed Up Your Smile. The SmartClip™ Self-Ligating Braces technology eliminates the need for rubber bands to hold the wires in the brackets. Instead, an innovative clip system does the trick. That's a big change for the better when it comes to your smile No elastic or steel ties are used with Smart Cliip brackets. This technology creates less friction and results in greater comfort for the patient. In addition, Smart Clip braces often reduce the need for extractions, leading to shorter treatment times, and the number of adjustments that are performed.
Ceramic braces are made from translucent (clear) material, which is a form of glass. They are most popular with adults due to their cosmetic appeal. The actor Tom Cruise wore these braces when he had orthodontic treatment some years ago. They are difficult to see on the teeth unless you are very close to the patient.
Ceramic brackets are more fragile than metal brackets. For this reason they are usually only used on the upper front teeth. Due to the nature of the ceramic material treatment can take longer where ceramic brackets are used.
These systems use a series of clear overlay templates – called aligners- that have been generated by a computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. These systems are available to older patients with certain orthodontic bite problems. Not all orthodontic problems can be corrected by these systems. Please ask us if you are a candidate for one of these systems.
